An adventurer and storyteller, Ben has walked the Great Wall of China, and climbed to 18,000 feet on Mt. Everest. He now writes spellbinding stories for boys and girls.
Ben grew up practically living in the local library. Reading was his escape and the library was his portal. He loved boys adventure stories and he’s been amazed at the reports that say boys don’t read. So he decided to write the kind of stories he remembered. Tales of lost gold and river caves, and flying with eagles. Stories of friendship that endure through adversity and danger. Adventures that inspire and educate and, most of all, entertain.
Ben began writing for children in 2008 and has completed picture books, middle grade and young adult stories. Ben lives in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife Lynda.
The Boy Who Flew With Eagles
By the light of leaping flames an old man weaves a heart-pounding tale. A story of a time of great hunger when man and beast might die. Only one boy can save his people and the other creatures from starvation. But he must face a terrifying challenge.
“Woodard’s lyrical writing adds heft to this dreamy myth-like story.”
Marcia Thornton Jones, Best selling author of over 130 children’s books.
“Danger, beauty, humor, and in the end, deep satisfaction.”
Martha Bennett Stiles, Prizewinning author of 12 books including the middle grade Sailing to Freedom
A Problem With Donuts
Elizabeth loves donuts—maybe too much. When her Dad says, “No donuts today,” she pouts, smells the donuts next door, and sneaks in the donut shop. There she sees hundreds of donuts…whizzing by. Every kind she could imagine. And Elizabeth had to have one. But when she has MORE than one, strange and hilarious things happen.
